What is the 'Telephone Tree'?

The TT is a voluntary register of contact details so that residents can be alerted by phone (landline or mobile) in the event of an emergency, or threat of an emergency, identified as being likely to affect them.

Alerts originate from The Fire Control Officer or Police who request the District Controller to pass on important information (e.g. the location of fires, level of threat, evacuation points, etc) to residents via the TT. The DC phones the Coordinators, who then phone Sub-Coordinators, who in turn phone those residents on their branch of the TT. Ideally, SC’s should only need to contact at most ten people. The TT can also work in reverse.

Any personal information provided to the MEPCC is protected by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) and will only be used for the intended purpose.

For the TT to be effective, it is essential that you help us by keeping your contact details up to date. Many of those who registered previously now have Internet access and email addresses.

Inclusion of your details in the TT costs nothing but a few minutes of your time. It is also common sense to help others to help you in an emergency situation.

You can fill in your details in an online form here or you can download a Word version here and then email it to admin@mepcc.org.au as an attachment after completion.

Doing it either of these ways minimises the work for our volunteers.

You can also download a form that can be opened in Acrobat Reader here and then printed and posted after completion to:
